The Wielder's Heart

The Wielder's Heart

Who etched this heart first into stone
By chisel, hand and mallet
And cracked in fragments, and broke apart
And formed this shapen piece of art,

A hand that grasps the hardened tool
And strikes it on its head
The sharp iron spike deep into stone
A shock through mallet, hand and bone

Into the wielder's soul it strikes
And shatters rock within
The hard struck blow, to shape the art
And chissel down the Wielder's heart

Another strike against the stone
Cold rock and steel collide
To crack the vein down deep inside
Fly out the shards, break open wide

One final blow the Wielder strikes
With all his strength and might
A shock through mallet, hand and bone
his heart, once warm, now carved in stone.
